Softball

Megan came home the second day of school and put her back pack down and then said that there were softball tryouts that day. Megan has never in her life played a real game of softball (we don't count the family parties are real). Well, then she said she thought she wanted to try out. I was a little shocked and asked her when they start. She said right then. She ran and got on her basketball shorts and ran out to the van. I asked her if she needed a mitt and she said probably not. (First sign she has never played). I tried to give her Wendell's, but she wouldn't take it. So she ran and got the neighbor's bright pink mitt and headed off.
We pulled in the parking lot and she started to get cold feet. I told her she didn't have to go, but then all of the sudden she ran out of the van and met up with the team. Megan made it through all the try-outs and came home exhausted. The last day of try-outs she found out the team practiced everyday for 2 hours for 7 weeks. Megan at that point realized she would have to give up tumbling and prayed she wouldn't make the team. It's not very often that a student checks the final team roster and cheers when she isn't on it. Megan did a great job, but needs a little more practice for next year and also has to decide if she still wants to tumble.
