Our traditional family night carving pumpkins with the neighbors. We were able to do it all in the garage without even getting too cold. Our dinner even included a "dinner in a pumpkin." Emily was fascinated that the pumpkin went in the oven. 
Lots of pumpkins meant lots of seeds and mess.

On Saturday the weather was perfect. This is our picture just before heading out to the pumpkin patch. This is the same patch we have gone to for the last 7 years. This was definitely one of the most beautiful weather years we have had---since the snow of course.
Megan found her pumpkin right away and Emily needed a medium one that she could carry.
Tyler had a hard time choosing the perfect pumpkin. He wanted the biggest one in the field. Here he is showing off the smallest one he could find. He was the last one to get back on the wagon because I think he looked at most every one.
There are a ton of pumpkins left considering Halloween is less than a week away.
Megan liked exploring the asparagus fields almost more than the pumpkin fields. Who would have guessed asparagus can get so tall?
Our ward had its annual Halloween party on Friday night. There were carnival games and lots of food. This is Tyler donning the Jack Sparrow again this year. This costume is definitely well used.
Emily is showing off her Dorothy dress. I actually made it and it stayed together through the party. Tyler and Megan think I need a different costume next year. I have been a witch for the last 3 years. I say if it works don't change it.
Megan is a doctor this year. Thanks to Danny and Heather for their "official" scrubs. I think she looks more like the patient in this picture.
Wendell wanted sugar cookies at the party and frosting. I ended up making about 230 cookies and that big bowl in the middle is full of frosting. Yes we had a ton left. Stop by anytime for cookies and frosting.
One of the booths for the kids involved witches' brew and then they got to stick their hands in boxes to feel all the gooey body parts. Boiled cabbage was the brain, grapes were the eyes and various other parts. This was the hit of the party.
Tyler's class was able to attend Astro Camp at a school in Ogden. Basically, they had games and classes about the moon and earth. The directors were really good with the kids and made it fun. 
After the classes they got to tour the simulated space shuttle and look at satellites. It is quite amazing that all of that is in a regular elementary school.
This shows the space shuttle that is actually part of the building and has all the cockpit computers in it. Tyler was more fascinated with the prizes all the kids got. A fun day to learn about space and share in Tyler's class. 
Soccer is over for the season. Emily told her coach that she might not be able to play the whole game because she was "really busy." I think she was just distracted by the little yorkie dog that was on the sidelines. She told me that she would like to be an only child and get a yorkie instead of Megan and Tyler. She said, "at least a yorkie wouldn't yell at me or be mean." Poor girl---she is definitely the youngest.
After Emily's soccer game on Saturday we went to the Weber State Football game. Tyler loves the foam claws and cheering even though he knows as much about football as me.
This is Emily pretending to like the game. She and Megan thought it was too hot and boring. I just enjoyed that there was actually warm weather. I think they were just excited to get to Lagoon.
Frightmares at Lagoon has always been a favorite of the kids. Emily especially likes the spook-a-boo. Here they are getting candy from a witch. Unfortunately, Megan is now too tall and had to just come along for the scenery. Some of the stations took pity on her and gave out some candy. Next year, she'll have to stick to the spook alleys.
Of course the chain saws were in full swing at Frightmares. Emily actually has a smile on her face around a "spooky" dude. Megan and Tyler did all they could to chase the creatures.
The lines were extremely long on Saturday. Luckily, entertainers came along and distracted the kids while they waited to get in the spook alley. Megan and Chenelle now know some kind of Halloween cheer thanks to this lovely cheerleader.
Emily couldn't resist poking her head through the hole to become a fairy.
We decided the 2-day break from school was the perfect time to spend the night in Logan for what Emily calls a "vacation." The kids worked extra hard cleaning on Thursday morning so that Cade could come along. 
Next we hit Willow Park Zoo. Those are bald eagles in the background. Who would have guessed that this little zoo could be so entertaining? Wendell and I thought it was just a good place to kill time before we met Jeff for dinner. 
The highlight of the day was the pool at the hotel and the giant Shamu. Everyone had a great time until Megan and Cade found something brown at the bottom of the pool---needless to say it wasn't a penny and was soft according to Megan. I hope the chlorine works well.
We were a little premature in our assessment of this storm. While we were at church another couple of inches came down making it irrestible to play in. Here are the kids and neighbors preparing for a snowball fight. By the time the storm stopped we had close to a foot.
It was very cold. Here are the kids bundled up in all their gear. They were soaking wet by the time they came in.
This is the finished snowman. The buttons and eyes are leaves that are actually still green here. I'm just not sure why he is so wide at the bottom. 
This is what we woke up to this morning. Megan, Tyler and Emily are thrilled. They've already eaten handfuls and according to Emily, the snow is "Yummy!"
This picture was taken after the flag ceremony and after many speeches. I think Tyler's face says it all about his interest level at this point.
Tyler along with his cousins was asked to help with the flag ceremony at the Eagle court for Grandpa Dave. Tyler was so nervous and worried, but even got the salutes right.
During the Priesthood session of conference, we have a tradition of called "Ladies Night." I would say it is now more of "Kids Night." This year we went to Arctic Circle and let the kids terrorize the playground. After we always have pie or dessert with the men---In writing this I think this should really be called "Mens' Night." They get a break from the kids and also get the pie.
Because we had conference, Megan and Tyler got to have a sleepover at Cade's house. Emily was disappointed she didn't get a party, so we were lucky Grace and Ellyse could sleepover. In fact when Emily asked Ellyse if she would like to sleepover, Ellyse replied, "I'd be happy to." Tyler and Megan spent the night playing Capture the Flag for Cade's birthday and the girls spent the night watching Barbie movies. Definitely a "Kids Night Out."
