"We're making a record"

There is a Brady Bunch episode in which Cindy and Bobbie try to set a record by sitting on a teeter-totter for hours. Well, of course, all three of the kids have every episode memorized so now they are trying to apply the situations to their own lives. This was the case when Emily and her friend decided they would set a record with the most worms ever caught. (Yes, they are both girls). Here is their attempt at digging. They were so excited that they caught 10--they are trying for a million. Tyler of course dashed their hopes telling them a million worms would never stay alive and would take about 30 years. Tyler the realist.

My favorite part is that they are storing their worms in the Barbie swimming pool. Much more useful for worms I guess.

Wendell was telling Emily how smart and big she was getting now that she is 5. Emily looked at him and said, "Yes, I come from a long line of ingeniuses and am so dreadful." We laughed and said, "Dreadful?". She replied, "Oh, I mean intelligence." We then asked her what an ingenius was. She just said, "Me." Hum....I think we need to get her a dictionary for Christmas. I just told Wendell she must come from his line because, according to Jeff, my line is full of geniuses.

Tylenol for All!

Here is a picture of the famous Lucky dog (well, the replacement anyway)! Emily is so happy to have it back in her possession and we are lucky Tyler didn't need too much Tylenol to deal with these "girls that cry over everything." (I hate to tell him it will only get a thousand times worse)

Emily is happy to show off her hole from her first missing tooth now it is gone. She cried more than I thought she would and kind of freaked out when the bleeding started. Wendell needed Tylenol before this tooth was out. One down and 17 more to go.

Yesterday at tumbling Megan rolled her ankle when trying to land her full. We were at pack meeting and when we got the call Megan was hurt we thought she would need a cast. Luckily, nothing was broken, just sprained. Nothing a wrap and Tylenol couldn't take care of. She's out of tumbling and basketball for 2 weeks which is probably more painful for Megan than the actual sprain.

This is truly our finest Tylenol moment. Tyler had his palate expander put in today along with 4 brackets on his front teeth. His face in the picture pretty much sums up how he feels about the whole orthodontic experience so far. He did ask just a minute ago how much longer he needed it in---This may be the longest 9 months of our lives.

Happy Birthday to Emily----Again!

According to Emily, Chuck E. Cheese is the place to be on your Birthday. Here she is with the man himself. We didn't do the Birthday package, but luckily many others did so Chuck E. was wandering around a ton.

This picture makes the cake look like a bat. It was a butterfly and really did look like one. Emily told me her wish was to be a fairy princess. It took 4 times to blow out all the candles so Megan and Tyler told her her wish wouldn't come true for another 4 years anyway. Maybe by then her wishes will change.

Not a very flattering picture of anybody, but none the less this is the party.

One of the highlights was watching Grandma Grace and Mammy play the Deal or No Deal game. Mammy only ended up with 2 tickets and Grandma Grace actually got 8. That's quite a bit for this game.

Tokens and tickets were everywhere. Some of the workers went around the games just throwing tickets in the air. The kids actually ended up with over 400 tickets each. Most of them came from the flying tickets.

Megan was happy that Chenelle was able to come and play with her.

Another happy party at Chuck E. Cheese---that is until we got home and realized that in the shuffle someone had actually stolen one of Emily's presents. Of course it was the "fake puppy that acts real" called Lucky that Mammy had given her. We rushed back to the restaurant, but of course they could do nothing. Can you believe someone would outright take something off the table that was stacked and in a box? We then spent the next hour going from store to store looking for another Lucky. Thank you Toys R Us for actually having Lucky in stock. Emily was once again happy, but vows to never take any presents to Chuck E. Cheese again. I would have to agree.

Happy Birthday Emily!

Emily's friend party involved "byob". The "b" meant booster seat. Here is a small portion of the booster seats we had sitting in our living room before we left for Fat Cats to bowl. Just buckling in 9 4-5 year olds took some doing.

Emily's dream Birthday party was to go bowling with all the friends she knew. And so when we checked in with 11 kids and needed all the small balls we did get quite a few stares. Most of the kids used the handy ramp until they started showing off. One little boy actually kicked the ball down the alley and then said it hurt.

Climbing on the ball return was the highlight. Emily got her hat the day before at preschool and wore it her entire party. "She is the birthday girl of course."

Tyler was about the only one who took the game serious. Of course it took forever and we told all the kids at frame 8 that the game was over. Most were starving so they didn't complain and the others didn't have any clue that the real game has 10 frames.

We were on a tight time schedule. This is the party getting their food so that they could hurry and eat before the parents arrived. They had a total of 15 minutes to open presents and eat.

Emily wanted a pink flower cake. Tyler didn't think it looked real enough, but the rest of the party knew what it was. They mainly just wanted to eat it.

Happy Halloween!

Halloween started off with crazy hair day at school. Apparently it also meant crazy glasses day. Megan came up with these beauties.

Here are the fabulous costumes for this year. We finally got a picture of Indiana Jones. This is just before the neighborhood parade. Notice there are no coats on anyone. The weather was close to 70--a record for Halloween.

Emily enjoyed the cookies after the parade. The ward passed out flashlights, glow sticks and lots of cookies. The tricky part was getting them home to eat dinner before they actually went trick-or-treating.

Here are the pumpkin masterpieces. Emily even cut out her own pumpkin this year.

Emily has done the same thing the last couple of years. She goes out for about 1 hour and then comes home, dumps out all her candy, and eats to her heart's content.

Megan shows off her loot. She could have gone all night. They quit about 9:00 and resorted to eating and watching a movie with friends.
