Children's Parade

The Pioneer Days of Ogden started off with a children's parade. We loaded the bikes in the van, dressed "western", and headed to ride down Washington early on July 18th. Emily has gotten good use out of her boots. She loves her western shirt and the bonnet just completes the outfit.

Tyler donned a cowboy hat and bandana for his western attire.

Megan looked pretty cool pedaling down the street in her hat and western shirt.

The parade was only 4 blocks long, but Emily had the right idea riding with the babies down the route. And to think we did this not for fun, but to get free rodeo tickets. It turned out to be fun all the same. We were ready to celebrate the 24th.

More Birthday Celebrations!

My Birthday quickly followed Megan's and she worked hard at decorating a cake for me. Wendell baked the cake and then Megan went to town with the decorating bags. I definitely think Megan has a future in cake making---at least in our family.

We also celebrated all the birthdays by going to the drive-in again. We went to see Harry Potter which we were all pretty lost in because it really does make a difference if you have seen the previous movies.

We had a great time anyway playing games and eating tons of food. The drive-in is more about the experience than the actual movie.

Follow Me Boys.....

Tyler finally was able to attend day camp for wolves and bears. I am the Bear leader and got to go with the boys bright and early. Tyler wasn't quite sure what the camp was all about when we first arrived. He's not in to all the songs and skits the scouts do. In fact he asked me if we were coming to a play or camp during the opening flag ceremony.

Tyler preferred all the activities. The monkey bridge is always fun to cross.

The boys got to try sling shots, bb guns, archery, hiking, and crafting.

Tyler was quite meticulous in making his leather necklace with rocks attached. I don't think the rocks made it much past the craft building. I was glad I was able to go and share in the day with Tyler. It's fun to see him grow and become a littler braver at trying new things.

Happy Birthday to Megan----Again!

Megan celebrated with her friends on July 14th. All the girls met at our house and then we headed to the aquatic center for swimming.
All the girls were old enough to swim on their own which made it the easiest party yet. The mess stayed at the pool.

We had another great party for Megan on the 13th after we got home from Bear Lake. Megan wanted to make her own birthday cake this year. She said her dream was to wake up and have the cake baked and the frosting ready to go. I was more than happy to oblige knowing that the decorating would be done by her. This is her final creation. We all thought she did a great job with her first full cake. She used the decorating tips and everything. Her "Ice Cream Cone" was a hit. I think I'll hire her for the next birthday in the family.

We ate dinner with cousins and grandparents. Megan always picks chicken roll-ups and watermelon for her birthday dinner. We then gathered to watch her presents.

Eleven candles is a lot to blow out. I can't believe how fast the time has gone and that Megan is getting so grown-up.

More Bear Lake Fun!

Megan, Tyler, & Emily love the craft area at Bear Lake. Their favorite craft this year was coloring shrinky dinks. They loved watching their little plastic colorings shrink to hardly nothing. We spent quite a lot of time painting, coloring, and cutting. It was a great place to be on a hot afternoon.

One of the favorite games of Megan and Emily was glow-in-the-dark dodge ball. I think Emily just loved wearing the glow necklace around.

Emily spent the rest of the beach days fully clothed trying to protect her poor little legs. Grandpa Rich rented a boat and Megan loved being thrown around on the tube when she wasn't building on the beach. The water was too rough to try water skiing so that will have to wait for another year. Tyler just loved being the co-captain on the boat and had to be coaxed to get off.

Our last day at the lake was Megan's 11th birthday. We had a great dinner that she had planned and then ended with Key Lime cheesecake---her favorite. Her birthday happened to land on a Sunday so the parties with friends had to wait until the next week. Great times in Bear Lake!

Horseback Riding

This year we all headed to Beaver Mountain to ride horses. Emily wasn't old enough to do the entire hour long ride, but spent the time riding ponies around the corral. She should have been born in another family. She loves horses and wanted to ride and ride. Wendell had to sit out of the wind and watch because of his allergies.

This was Tyler's first year to ride and was a little nervous at first. Once we got going he loved it. He thought an hour sounded like a long time until it was over and then wanted to keep going. The helmet is definitely fashionable.

Megan was ready to go and liked the ride almost as much as Emily.
